What are Legendary Events?
Legendary Events are limited time events where you have the chance to earn Legendary character shards. Each Legendary character has their own event that lasts for a limited time and recurs every few weeks for older Legendaries, or every few months for newer Legendaries. These events typically start on Mondays at server reset (5 PM PDT) and last for 3 days. On a Legendary character’s first release event, the event has usually run for 5 days.

Who are the Legendary Characters and how do you unlock them?
Each Legendary character has their own Legendary event that has specific requirements to participate. With the exception of Phoenix who unlocks at 6 Yellow Stars (510 shards), all Legendaries unlock at 5 Yellow Stars (310 shards). You will need to collect Yellow Stars for the reqirement characters, then level them up in order to complete the missions.
As of August 2021, there are currently 12 characters with the Legendary trait, and below are their minimum requirements to unlock them. To earn additional Yellow Stars for the Legendaries, you’ll need to collect more Yellow Stars and possibly invest more in the required characters.
- Adam Warlock (Mythic Legendary Event) – INFINITY WATCH
- 5 Star Unlock Requirements: Jubilee and four X-FACTOR trait characters
- All at a minimum of 5 Yellow Stars, Gear Tier 12, Level 65 and ISO-8 Level 3
- Note: Adam Warlock is the first Mythic Legendary and has additional Gear Tier, character level and ISO-8 level requirements.
- Black Bolt – UNITE THE KINGDOMS
- 5 Star Unlock Requirements: five ASGARDIAN trait characters
- All at a minimum of 5 Yellow Stars
- Doctor Octopus – SURGICAL S.T.R.I.K.E.
- 5 Star Unlock Requirements: five X-FORCE trait characters
- All at a minimum of 5 Yellow Stars
- Ebony Maw – BLACK AND EBONY
- 5 Star Unlock Requirements: Black Bolt and four INHUMAN trait characters
- All at a minimum of 5 Yellow Stars
- Invisible Woman – NOW YOU SEE ME
- 5 Star Unlock Requirements: five SINISTER SIX trait characters
- All at a minimum of 5 Yellow Stars
- Iron Man (always available) – I AM IRON MAN
- 5 Star Unlock Requirements: five S.H.I.E.L.D. trait characters
- All at a minimum of 5 Yellow Stars
- Jubilee – LIKE, TOTALLY JUBILEE
- 5 Star Unlock Requirements: five PYM TECH trait characters
- All at a minimum of 5 Yellow Stars
- Magneto – ASTEROID M
- 5 Star Unlock Requirements: five X-MEN or BROTHERHOOD trait characters
- All at a minimum of 5 Yellow Stars
- Nick Fury (always available) – CHASING FURY
- 5 Star Unlock Requirements: five KREE & MINION trait characters
- All at a minimum of 5 Yellow Stars
- Phoenix – PHOENIX RISING
- 6 Star Unlock Requirements: five MYSTIC & VILLAIN & CONTROLLER trait characters.
- All at a minimum of 6 Yellow Stars
- Shuri (always available) – PRINCESS AND THE SYMBIOTE
- 5 Star Unlock Requirements: five SPIDER-VERSE trait characters
- All at a minimum of 5 Yellow Stars
- Star-Lord – SPACE ACE
- 5 Star Unlock Requirements: five RAVAGER or GUARDIAN trait characters
- All at a minimum of 5 Yellow Stars
What are some tips and tricks for MSF Legendary Events?
- Despite the tag, not all Legendaries are created equal. Some are not worth leveling or even unlocking at all! However to complete Dark Dimension 4, you will need at least four Legendaries.
- Try to plan ahead and collect character shards that you can use to unlock multiple Legendaries or for other Flash Events. For example, SINISTER SIX trait characters also have the SPIDER-VERSE trait and can be used to unlock both Invisible Woman and Shuri. Also, Doctor Octopus can be used as one of the requirements.
- Adam Warlock requires another legendary to unlock, so you need to complete the Jubilee event and unlock her first.
- Similarly, the Ebony Maw event requires Black Bolt.
- Right before an older Legendary Event, there is an inbox message giving you free shards of the required characters. For newer Legendaries, there is a 24 hour double drop event for the required character shards that are available in Campaign missions.
- The double drop events start at server reset time (5PM PDT). If you live in a time zone where the server reset occurs before your daily reset (midnight), you can take advantage of the double drop event twice. To do this, on the day of the double drop event, you wait until the double drop goes live at server reset to farm the required characters for the day. When your campaign nodes refresh at your daily reset, you can then proceed to farm the Campaign missions again!
- Certain Legendaries are always available, so you can work on collecting the required characters at your own pace.
- Shuri is part of the Wakandan team that is needed for the monthly Chaos Theory flash event to earn Red Star Promotion credits.
- With the exception of the Adam Warlock Mythic Legendary Event, you can save resources by only spending gold, training modules and ability materials on a few good characters of the requirements and leaving the other characters at level 1. You don’t need all the characters to survive the event to complete the missions. For example, for the Black Bolt event, you can level up a useful end-game character like Hela to a high level and leave the other four Asgardians at a low level if you don’t plan on using them.
