Karen Kay Pohlen, 70, passed away on February 16, 2023, at her La Junta home. She was born on May 21, 1952, in Canby, Minnesota to Raymond & Lola (Erp) Ouverson. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Canby, MN. She was a graduate of Canby High School in 1970. She married Bill Pohlen on September 26, 1970. They lived in Excelsior, MN until 1990, then moved to La Junta. They both worked for DeBourgh Manufacturing. She also worked at Valcom Commodities, Pioneer Nursing Home, and the Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center until she retired. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren and her many friends. Riding motorcycles, sewing, camping, cooking, playing cards, as well as dining out with family and friends were a few of Karen’s enjoyments. She also loved the many animals that frequented the family farm.,She is survived by the love of her life, William “Bill”; children, Brandon (Michelle) Pohlen, Brittany (Jesse) Sierra, grandchildren, Cade, Brielle & Denaye Pohlen; Jesse Jr., Leah & Cruz Sierra; sisters, Karla Bednar, ViAnn (Leonard) Kwilinski and Gwenn Ouverson; numerous nieces, nephews, uncles and aunts also survive. She is preceded in death by parents, brother, Larry Ouverson; grandparents, and in-laws, Agnes & Magnus Pohlen; and sister-in-law, Mary. Funeral service will be Monday, February 27, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Peaco*ck Memorial Chapel with Pastor Dave Wietzke of the Crown of Life Lutheran Church in Pueblo officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, February 26, 2023, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Peaco*ck Memorial Chapel. Online condolences may be made at www.peaco*ckFH.com. DEBBIE M. STOREY

Debbie M. Storey, 67, passed away February 11, 2023 at St. Francis Hospital in Colorado Springs. Debbie was born May 31, 1955 in Lamar, Colorado to Jim & Opal (Crane) Hol- lenback. She grew up in Springfield and later moved to La Junta where she attended and graduated from La Junta High School. In January 1973, a young Debbie was in the parking lot at Otero Junior College when an unknown 23 year old man walked by, looked into her blue eyes and introduced her to his friend as his fiancé. This is how Debbie first met Greg Storey who would become her life partner for the next 50 years. The two of them were married within five months after four dates. Debbie helped Greg with horse shoeing. She worked at Davidson’s Jewelers, manager of 6 Star, DeBourgh Manufacturing, Colorado East Bank & Trust (TBK), and SECOM. She was a member of the La Junta Rifle Club, National Cutting Horse Assoc., NRA and past 4-H leader. Debbie is survived by her husband, Greg of the La Junta family home; several nieces and nephews and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Stacy and her sisters, Paula and Shelly. Funeral services will be Friday, February 17, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the La Junta First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Marty Lee of the United Methodist Church of Rocky Ford officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, February 16, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Peaco*ck Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at the Springfield Cemetery in Springfield, CO.
