Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, known for his record-setting performances on the football field, is now making a significant mark in the fast-food industry. Mahomes, part of a team of investors who own KMO Burger LLC, a Whataburger franchisee, will open another outlet of the beloved Texas-based fast food chain in Olathe, Kansas.

Mahomes loves Whataburger
The Olathe Whataburger location, set to open its doors on November 6, is a testament to Mahomes' expanding business ventures beyond football.
When the announcement was made, Jay Battle, the franchisee's Chief Operating Officer, explained that the burger chain has received a warm welcome in the midwest and he hinted about the future of the franchise in the area saying
"We've been pleased with the reception that Kansas and Missouri has given us, and we've been anxious to open more."
KMO Burger LLC has already established a presence with six locations and ambitious plans to open 30 more across Kansas and Missouri in the next seven years.
A little bit of Texas in the Midwest
Whataburger, known for its triple meat and Southern bacon burgers, originally opened its doors in Corpus Christi, Texas, in 1950. It made its Kansas City debut in 2021 with the Lee's Summit location.
KMO-owned Whataburger establishments can be found at various locations across the Kansas City metro area.
Patrick Mahomes, a Texas native, understands the cultural significance of Whataburger in his home state. His involvement in bringing Whataburger to Kansas City reflects his desire to share a taste of Texas with his newfound home.
Back in 2021, when KMO opened its first location in the area, Mahomes said in a statement "I love Kansas City and I love Whataburger. I'm excited to bring a gift from my first home to my second home."
With hundreds of Whataburger locations in Texas and several more in neighboring states, Mahomes' venture aims to bring a piece of his Texas roots to the heart of the Midwest.
The timing of this expansion coincides with the restructuring of Patrick Mahomes' contract, making him the highest-paid player in NFL history over the next four seasons.
