How long can a US citizen stay in North Cyprus?
Foreigners visiting the TRNC may be granted a visa up to 90 days, depending on its type, at the designated ports and border crossings, provided that they fulfil the conditions stipulated in the Aliens and Immigration Law and they are not deemed unfit to enter the country.

If you plan to visit the country for immigration purposes, an extended stay or for committing several visits to the country, a total period of which exceeds 90 days in a 180-day period, you must apply for a long-term visa by contacting the Civil Registry and Migration Department.
Visa requirements. You do not need a visa to visit Cyprus for up to 90 days for tourism, visiting friends or family, attending business meetings or short-term study.
In order to remain in Cyprus legally for over 90 days, all foreign nationals have to obtain a residence permit, issued by the Cypriot Minister of Interior and recommended by the Immigration Control Board. To be eligible for a residence permit/visa, you must fall under one of the allowed categories of immigration.
If you are from a non-EU country, you must apply for a visa at a Cyprus embassy in your home country. There is no retirement visa in Cyprus. You may apply for a temporary residence permit, which has to be renewed annually.
British, EU and US passport holders do not need tourist visas for North Cyprus entry and up to a 90-day stay is permitted for visitors as per the conditions below. Touristic visitors that will stay at hotel or rented accommodation can be issued a visa for a maximum of 30 days.

What is the penalty for overstaying in Cyprus?
If you exceed your visa period without extending your visa you will be liable for a fine. The fine is calculated as the daily minimum wage multiplied by the number of days you overstayed your visa before leaving the TRNC.
The 'Pink Slip' is a special temporary permit issued for Non-EU citizens who come to Cyprus for long-term purposes. This type of permit can be issued for a period of 1 to 4 years (with a limitation of absence period not more than 4 months).
Non-European nationals
To stay in Cyprus for more than 3 months (90 days), you must obtain a Cyprus temporary residence permit. It will also enable you to extend your stay no matter the duration of your initial visa you travelled with. However, you must be on time and apply before your current visa expires.
You must apply for a visa at your home country's nearest Cypriot embassy or consulate. Upon arriving in Cyprus, within seven days, you must apply for a temporary residence permit at: The Civil Registry and Migration Department if you will be living in the Nicosia District.
Cyprus Residence Permits for EU/EFTA nationals
As such, if you are an EU or EFTA citizen and want to stay in Cyprus longer than 90 days, you have to simply register your stay at the Civil Registry and Migration Department and get a Registration Certificate (also known as a Yellow Slip).
Obtaining residency through property purchase
To obtain a residence permit in the TRNC, you do not need to pass any exams (as in some other countries). There is no property value threshold (but it must have an area of at least 17 m2), no need to open a company, and no restrictions on how long you can stay in the state.
Requirements for Cyprus Residency by Investment
You must make a €30,000 deposit into a bank in Cyprus. The money will be kept for three years. You must prove you have an annual income of at least €30,000 for yourself, and another €5,000 for every dependent (spouse and children).
If you're looking to travel to Cyprus on a self-catering basis, make sure you allocate around £45 per person per day to this if eating out for all meals, so around £315 per person per week. For better overall value, consider going all-inclusive.
Permission to acquire immovable property in Cyprus
Cypriots and EU citizens are entitled to buy immovable property without any restrictions. Non-EU citizens can buy immovable property, however, permission from the Council of Ministers is required.
Pensions are readjusted every year based on the increase of insurable earnings and the price index. In the case that an insured person has one, two or three dependants, the basic pension increases to 80%, 90% or 100% respectively. For 2021, the basic pension is €442 if the pensioner is entitled to it in full.

US passport holders do not require a visa to enter Cyprus for a stay of up to 90 days.
The official language of North Cyprus is Turkish. Although the local Cypriots have their own dialect, English is also widely spoken.
